Our Working Agreement

How We Work Together

Let’s keep this simple. We aren’t lawyers, and we don’t like hidden clauses. We prefer to work on trust, but having a few ground rules helps us both stay on the same page. Here is how we work.

1. The Scope of Our Work

We handle your bookkeeping—categorizing transactions, reconciling accounts, and keeping your ledger accurate. We are not a tax firm, nor are we providing legal or business strategy advice. We’ll get your books ready for your tax accountant, but we aren’t the ones filing the taxes.

2. Access to Data

For us to do our job, we need access. This means bank feeds, invoice software, and any other relevant financial portals. If we don’t have access to your data, we can’t keep your books up to date. You agree to provide us with the info we need in a timely manner.

3. Payment Terms

We invoice monthly. We expect payment within [X] days of the invoice date. If payment is consistently late, we’ll have to pause work until the account is settled. We’re small business owners, too, so we appreciate you paying on time.

4. Errors and Corrections

We’re human. If we make a mistake in your categorization or reconciliation, tell us. We will fix it at no extra cost. However, we aren’t responsible for financial decisions you make based on your books, or for any penalties resulting from data you provided that turned out to be incorrect.

5. Ending the Partnership

We don’t believe in holding anyone hostage. If you want to stop working with us, just give us [30 days’] notice. We’ll finish up the current month’s work, hand over all your files, and wish you the best. We expect the same courtesy if we feel like we aren’t the right fit for your business.

6. Liability

Our liability is limited to the fees you’ve paid us for our services. We aren’t responsible for lost profits, business interruption, or any other indirect damages.
